Mayevan Greer

Mayevan Greer, 93 of Lexington, formerly of Glasgow, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 27, 2017 in Lexington. She was born in Mt Hermon, KY one of nine children on January 4, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Varnie and Vennie Proffitt Gentry and the wife of the late Gus Greer. Mrs. Greer was of a great generation of people, who knew hard work and a great faith in God. She was employed at the Glasgow Manufacturing for almost 40 years, and a member of the Fairview Baptist Church in Mt. Hermon, KY for over 70 years. The workplace brought her lifetime friendships. Her church family will be eternal. Survivors include her daughter Jenny Greer Stringer (Jeff) of Lexington: 3 grandchildren Aaron Jeffrey Stringer, Stephen Donald Stringer and Gus Grant Stringer; 2 great grandchildren Jaxson Greer and Ford Stringer; 1 sister Bedie Williams of Glasgow and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by 6 brothers Hazel, Huston, Omer, Lester, Sonny and Hubert Gentry and 1 sister Beulah Billingsley. Funeral services will be held 5:00pm CST. Wednesday. May 31, 2017 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Lexington Cemetery at 11:00am EST Thursday. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1:00pm until 4:00pm CST at the funeral home.
