Melba Wheat

Melba Jones Wheat, 97, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away Monday, January 1, 2024 at her residence. She was born November 19, 1926 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky to the late Sallye Jones and Rene Wilson Jones. Melba was a baker at A & P Bakery in Louisville and was of the Baptist faith. In her free time, Melba loved quilting.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Raymer (Bill); three sons, Buckley Herrell (Janet), William Herrell, Leslie Herrell (Karen); three stepchildren, Wanda Arms (Ronnie), David Lynn Wheat, John Wheat; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, David Wheat; one daughter, Margie Rose; one son, Ronnie Herrell; and eight siblings.

The funeral service for Mrs. Wheat will be held 4:00 PM Thursday, January 4th at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. A private burial will be on Friday, January 5th in the Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville. Visitation will be on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until time for the service at the funeral home.
