Michael Otto Salsbery 73 of Glasgow died Friday, October 14, 2016 at U of K Hospital in Lexington. He was born in Cincinnati, OH the son of Otto and Dorothy Jane Hathaway Salsbery. Michael graduated from Cranbrook School in Bloomfield Hill, MI then attended Centre College graduating in 1965 with a degree in Chemistry. He briefly attended graduate school at University of So. Miss before leaving for the Army in 1968. He served with the 84th Artillery, 9th Infantry "Old Reliables" in and around Ben Tre City IVth Corps Area in Vietnam. After his service he joined Gulf Oil in their chemical dept. He worked for Gulf and later Chevron Chemical Sales and marketing for 30 years. Mike enjoyed shooting and music. He taught bible, played the hammered dulcimer and guitar and read extensively. He loved his wife very much. He married Wendy Allison Upfield of Anchorage, KY in 1966. They lived in Hattiesburg, MS, Pittsburgh, PA, Houston, TX and Glasgow, KY and were married for 50 years. They have three sons Bruce, Ian (Cassaundra) and Alan (Michelle) plus two granddaughters Bryaunna and Alora. He is also survived by a brother Andy Salsbery and a sister Karen Serkowski. The family chose cremation and private services. A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
