Myrtie Houchens

Myrtie Leona (Bennett) Houchens, 80, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2009 at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow. A native of Barren County, she was a housewife and a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late James Arthur Bennett and the late Frances Cooksey Bennett. Survivors include a daughter Donna (Richard) Hurt of Glasgow, granddaughter Misty Hurt of Nashville, step-granddaughter Shelia (Chad)Childress, step-great granddaughter Breanna Childress, Step-great grandson Will Childress, all of Glasgow; one sister Mary Helen Pedigo of Indianapolis, IN, one brother Raymond Bennett and sister-in-law Dora Bennett of Glasgow. Several nieces and nephews also survive as well as many loving caregivers at NHC Nursing Home who had become a part of her family for almost three years. She was preceded in death by devoted husband Orvel Houchens, infant daughter Anita Carol Houchens and two brothers, Roger and Jewell Bennett. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM on Wednesday January 7th at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Tuesday.
