Myrtle Wilson

Myrtle Wilson, 98, of Caneyville, passed away Monday, December 5th, 2016 at Grayson Manor Nursing and Rehab. She was born on Wednesday, July 19th, 1918 in Butler County, the daughter of the late Vannie and Marylize (Brooks) Embry. Myrtle was a member of the Wilson Home Church. She retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company. Myrtle is survived by two daughters, Cora Cardwell of Caneyville and Phyllis Gumm (Ed) of Louisville; one sister, Opal Burden of Louisville and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Wilson; three sons, Sonny Wilson, Lasco Wilson and William Wilson; one daughter, Mary Jane Woosley; four brothers, James Embry, Willard Embry, Cecil Embry and V.J. Embry; one sister, Essie Ashley; one granddaughter, Patty Taylor and one great-grandson, Adam Flener.Funeral services will be Friday, December 9th at 12 Noon at the Wilson Home Church in Butler County. Bro Joe Williams will be officiating. Burial will be in the Wilson Home Cemetery.Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Thursday after 2:00 pm and Friday at the Wilson Home Church from 9:00 am until time of service.
