Norma Jean Laichas passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children, on October 13th, 2020, her 93rd birthday. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 13th, 1927. Norma was deeply loved by all who knew her, and will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, her generosity and wisdom, her deep and abiding faith, and her sense of humor and contagious laugh. With her beloved late husband, William (d. 2001), Norma made Glasgow, Kentucky, her home in 1985. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, and a long-time volunteer at T.J. Samson Hospital and was known for her compassion and empathy for loved ones and strangers, alike. Norma is survived by her four children, Bill Laichas (Ellen) of Glasgow; Carol Gough of Lafayette, Colorado; Susan Ripperdan (Kevin) of LaGrange, Kentucky; and Nancy Laichas of Washington, DC. She was the proud grandmother of Kasey, Megan, Josh, Sarah, Sam, Shannon, Courtney and Alex and the doting great grandmother of Jeffery, Jacob, Reese, Sully, Archie, Jean, John, Sawyer, Tasma, Millie Louise and Ellie. She was preceded in death by her great grandson, Jasper. Because of the challenges of COVID-19, a memorial service will be held at a later date, so all who loved her may celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances be made to the Glasgow First United Methodist Church, 500 S Green St, Glasgow, KY 42141.
