Norma Dean Williams Jones, 78, formerly of Etoile, Kentucky died 4:35 a.m., July 14, 2004, at her home at 2825 Windsor Avenue, Owensboro, Kentucky. She was born August 6, 1925 in Celina, Tennessee to the late John Alex and Lela Pearl Long Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence M. Jones. Surviving is her daughter Laurel Faye Jones Gibson, son-in-law, Dennis Leigh and grand-daughter Alexandra Laurel-Leigh of Owensboro; three brothers Cecil B. and Lecil E. Williams of Bowling Green and Jerome D. Williams of Lexington; two sisters Mary Pearl Fisher and Billie Jean Stephens of Bowling Green; six nieces; three nephews and several cousins. Norma Jones held Bachelor's, Master's and Rank I Degrees from Western Kentucky University. She retired from a teaching career of thirty-two years that started in a one room school at Dry Ridge, KY and ended at Austin Tracy Elementary in Barren Co. She was an active member or office holder of NEA, KEA, BCEA, IRA, PTA, 4-H Leader, Homemakers, Democratic Women's Club, Associated Country Women of the World, Glasgow Hospice, Lioness Club and received endless awards and recognition for service to her school and community. She was a member of the church of Christ. She loved her Lord and her school children. All services will be at A F Crow and Sons Funeral Home in Glasgow, KY. Visitation is Friday, 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00-11:00 a.m. The funeral is at 11:00 Saturday at the funeral home with burial in the Caney Fork Baptist Church Cemetery at Etoile.
