Olene Coomer

Olene Frances Coomer 83 of Cave City, KY died Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Barren County the daughter of the late Leonard and Pearlie Thomas Smith. Mrs. Coomer was a homemaker and a faithful member of the Basil Chapel United Baptist Church. She was united in marriage to Cortez Coomer Feb. 28, 1948 and together they had one son, Randall Coomer who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by 1 brother Orville (Lorine) Smith and a brother-in-law Walter Wilson. She is survived by her husband Cortez; her daughter-in-law Rita Coomer of Cave City; 2 granddaughters, Amanda Coomer of Glasgow and Laura Coomer of Cave City; 3 grandsons Dwayne (Dana) Marr of Glasgow, Kevin (Angie) Houchens of Bowling Green and Nathan Houchens of Scottsville; 5 great-grandchildren Haley Fisher, Kaleb Fisher, Megan Keith, Brayden Houchens, and Shyla Houchens. She is also survived by 4 sisters, Jennie Wilson, Doris (B.J.) Ward and Shirley (Rondall) Doyle all of Cave City and Delcie (Bobby) Britt of Glasgow; 3 brothers Raymond (Aline) Smith, Buford (Gienelle) Smith and J.B. (Doris) Smith all of Cave City and several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and nephews and other family. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Basil Chapel United Baptist Church with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00pm Friday at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
