Omar Louis Barbour age 82 of Glasgow, KY passed away Thursday, November 06, 2014 at his home. Born in Barren County, he was the son of the late Riley R. Barbour and Vera Matthews Barbour. He was married to Betty Hammer Barbour, who survives, November 20, 1957. He was a member of Poplar Spring Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Treasurer. He also served as clerk of the Liberty Association of Baptists for many years. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving overseas in the U.S. Navy. He was a Master Plumber and Electrician and used his skills as President of Glasgow Plumbing and Electric, Inc., and as a Kentucky State Plumbing Inspector. He also owned and managed several different businesses including Barbour Plumbing and Electric, Barbour Enterprises (remodeling houses), and B & L Investment, Inc. where he was manager of Omar's Oasis. In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters, Valeda Ramsey (Scott) of Bowling Green, Molly Geralds (Clayton) of Munfordville and Amy Hughes (Charley) of Liberty Township, OH; one son Dennis L. Barbour (Cathleen Fleck) of St. Louis, MO; 8 grandchildren, Christopher Geralds (Janie), Kimberly Geralds Spradlin (Matthew), Rachel Ramsey, Lydia Ramsey, Joshua Hughes, Caleb Hughes, Finn Barbour and Duncan Barbour; 3 great-granddaughters Shannon and Elizabeth Geralds and Alice Spradlin; 3 sisters Valeria Anderson of Caneyville, Louise Forsythe of Morgantown and Opal Bowles (George) of Clarksville, IN; 1 brother Robert Barbour (Loretta) of Glasgow and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ida Barbour and Rebecca Richardson, and three brothers-in-law Gordon Anderson, Royce Forsythe and Brents Richardson. Funeral services will be 2pm Monday, November 10th at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Barbour Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2pm Sunday. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the Barbour Cemetery Fund, 139 Harwood St., Glasgow, KY 42141.
