Opal Rea Miller Lawson passed away on September 16, 2014, surrounded by her loving family, after 88 beautiful years on earth. She was born to the late Luther and Ruie Walker Miller on March 16, 1926 in Sulphur Lick, Kentucky and was a lifelong Barren County resident. She is survived by three children, Sue Tarry and Kathy Clark (Lawrence) of Glasgow, and Berry Lawson (Carolyn) of Summer Shade; six grandchildren Sorida Sneed and Jason McCoy of Glasgow, J.T. Lawson and Linzy Lawson-Matthews of Summer Shade, Matthew Clark of Pullman, WA, and Allison Clark of Chicago, IL; five great-grandchildren Cheyenne Sneed, Hannah and Dallen McCoy, and Tristan and Aaron Jade Matthews; brothers Estes (Linda) and Cletus Miller; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her one true love and husband James Lawson, sisters Thelma Wilburn and Alline Lawson; brothers Wallace, Bill, and Jim Miller; and great-grandson Aaron McCoy. Opal was known for many things in her long life including her intense love of her family, creating the best yeast rolls and chicken and dumplings to have seen this earth, and her infallible ability to make any day brighter. Opal showed her fierce spirit through all of her 88 years and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A celebration of her life will be held on 1:00pm Friday September 19, 2014 at the A. F. Crow and Son Funeral Home with burial in White Cemetery in Sulfur Lick. Visitation will be after 3:00pm Thursday at A.F. Crow and Son Funeral home. Opal's family would like to offer very special thanks to the nurses and staff of Station 4 at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow, who have taken such kind and loving care of her for so many years.
