Oval Morris Proffitt 80 of Glasgow was received by his Savior on Monday March 11, 2013 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. Born on April 3, 1932 in Monroe County he was the son of the late Eskel & Amy Kingery Proffitt. Mr. Proffitt was a member of the Union #2 Missionary Baptist Church. He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the U. S. Army and worked for All Pest Chemical, Goodyear Tire and Tyson's of Glasgow. Survivors include his wife of 59 years Virginia 'Louise' Birge Proffitt; two sons Dennis Ray Proffitt and wife Linda of Glasgow and Charles Nelson Proffitt and wife Heather of Beechmont, KY; four grandchildren Christy Johns, Debbie, Quaid and Aven Proffitt; two great grandchildren Sage and Sylar Johns; a sister Rose Nell Crow and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Glen & Herbert Gene Proffitt. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Union #2 Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5:00pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the Union #2 Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund.
