Roscoe Saltsman 84 of Glasgow died Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Bridgepointe Memory Care Facility in Bowling Green, KY. He was born July 6, 1932 in Grayson County, KY and moved to Barren County in 1936. He was the son of the late William and Flora Harp Saltsman and husband of the late Vada Pardue Saltsman. He was a faithful member of Big Meadow Baptist Church since 1944 where he taught Sunday school, was a Sunday School Superintendent and served as Trustee and Deacon. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force spending 1954-1956 in Okinawa, Japan. He was a 1961 graduate of WKU where he earned his BS, MA and Rank 1 in Education. Roscoe began his teaching career at Liberty Street Junior High School. He later became Principal at Happy Valley Elementary and Liberty Street Elementary. Then he became supervisor of the Glasgow City Schools and retired from that position in 1995. He is survived by 3 daughters Beth Saltsman (Jimmy Vibbert) of Glasgow, Lori Jones (Scotty) of Bowling Green, KY and Kara Sexton (Jody) also of Bowling Green, KY; 3 granddaughters Whitney Shirley and twins, Madison and Blair Correll; 2 brothers Hayden Saltsman of Glasgow and William Saltsman Jr. of Columbus, IN and 3 sisters Stella Gooden and Dorine Reece both of Glasgow and Mona Pierce of Taylorsville, IN. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by 5 brothers Coy, Roy, Sherman, George and Herman Saltsman and 3 sisters Sylvia Saltsman, Linnie Fields and Callie Jeffries. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Monday, July 11, 2016 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Big Meadow Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00pm Sunday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the charity of your choice.
