Rose Simmons

March 28, 1937 — May 15, 2022

Rose Maxey Simmons, age 85, of Glasgow, KY passed from this earth and is now resting in Heaven with Jesus and her beloved husband Kenneth. She was born on March 28, 1937, to the late Rev. William Lewis Jordan and Opal Loumae Bartley Jordan. Rose Maxey Jordan married Kenneth E. Simmons December 18, 1954, and she graduated from Temple Hill High School May 1955. A year later they started their amazing family with a beautiful baby boy. 3 more wonderful children and several grands, later they spent a total of 66 plus years together. Rose Maxey loved God, her church, family, gardening, cooking and especially UK games. Anyone who knew her would say she made the best pecan pie in the world! She was devoted to her children attending all of the boys football games, teaching Debbie how to sew and never hesitated to keep any and all of her grandchildren especially during Vacation Bible School. She was a member of Poplar Spring Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as pianist, deacon's wife, VBS teacher and lifelong member. Rose Maxey is proceeded in death by parents, Rev. William Lewis and Opal Jordan, her loving husband Kenneth E. Simmons and oldest grandson Chris Simmons all of Glasgow, KY. She is survived by her 3 sons: Jeff Simmons (Debi Ann), Randy Simmons (Susan) of Glasgow, KY, Tommy Simmons (Tara) of Milton, TN and 1 daughter: Debbie Reed (Clint) of Lexington, KY; 8 grandchildren: Jenny Pickerel (Brian) and Chad Simmons, both of Glasgow, KY, Jordan Gatewood and Alyssa Kossick (Ian) both of Lexington, KY, Brooke Smith (Garrett) and Brie Simmons both of Glasgow, KY, Spencer Simmons and Morgan Simmons both of Milton, TN; great grandchildren are Olivia Grace, Grayson, Lorabeth and Paisley Jane Pickerel all of Glasgow, KY. Anna Rose Simmons and Olivia Grace of Glasgow, KY. Laurel Jane and Livie Saige Smith of Glasgow, KY; sister, Wilma Carol Billingsley (Walter); uncle, Turner Bartley; nieces, Beth Ann Groce and Amy Geary. Special Caregivers, Christie, Michelle, Donna, and Pam. Funeral service will be 1:00pm Wednesday, May 18th at the Poplar Spring Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the Barbour Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at A.F. Crow Funeral Home, and on Wednesday from 10:00am until time for the service at the Poplar Spring Missionary Baptist Church.
