Roy Clifton Cary 91 of Glasgow died Saturday, October 26, 2013 at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow. The Monroe County native was the son of the late Miles Allen Cary and Nannie Geralds Cary. Clifton was a farmer and was a member of the Browders Chapel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran of WWII serving as a radio operator and was stationed in England at the same base with Jimmy Stewart with whom he was acquainted. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Mayfield Cary and they would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary Nov. 1st. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Roy Clifton Cary, Jr.; two brothers Clyde and Elmer Cary and a sister Jewell Pitcock. Funeral services will be 1pm Tuesday, October 29th at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Burial with military honors provided by D.A.V. Chapter 20 of Glasgow will be in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2pm until 8pm and Tuesday morning until time for the service.
