Roy Davis

Rev. Roy Leon Davis 88 of Glasgow died Sunday, July 19, 2009 at the NHC Healthcare Facility in Glasgow. Born in Barren Co. he was the son of the late Charlie Davis & Mertie Sabens Davis. Rev. Davis was a proud veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army, a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Monroe County, a retired farmer and baptist minister having pastored Corinth Baptist Church in Monroe County and Freedom Baptist Church in Barren County. Survivors include his wife of 65yrs Ruby Frazier Davis; two daughters Martha Jean Thomas (Billy) of Glasgow and Sheila M. Atchison of New Castle, KY; two grandchildren Justin Atchison and Kyle Atchison (Fiance Amanda Rankin) all of New Castle, KY; a step grandchild Brad Thomas (Carol) of Glasgow; two step great grandchildren Megan Thomas and Tyler Richardson. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two infant children Nancy Carolyn Davis and Roy Michael Davis, a brother Elmer Davis and two sisters Helen Polson and Gladys Crabtree. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Poplar Log Cemetery with military honors provided by D.A.V. Chapter #20. Visitation will be after 4:00pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to D.A.V. Chapter #20 at 728 New Salem Rd.
