Royce Hammer

Royce Dicken Hammer 85 of Glasgow died Saturday, May 7, 2010 at the Glasgow Health and Rehab Center. Born in Monroe County, KY he is the son of the late Ferry & Mary Belle Ross Hammer. Mr. Hammer was of the Church of Christ faith and a P.O.W. in Germany during World War II serving in the U. S. Army. Survivors include his wife of 63yrs Ruby Nell Brown Hammer of Glasgow; 2 sons Mike Hammer of Glasgow and David Hammer (Donna) of South Carolina; a daughter Shirley Hammer Tate of North Carolina; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; 2 brothers Reggie Hammer (Mary Lois) and Rex Hammer (Beatrice) both of Kansas; 3 sisters Modelle Cloyd of Humble, IL, Elizabeth Smith of Owensboro, KY and Helen Payne (Harold) of Mt Hermon, KY; two special caregivers Tammy Shockley and Birdie Hammer and several other friends and relatives also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Johnny Hammer, a daughter Sarah Soards and a sister Kathleen Hendrick. Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by DAV Chapter #20. Visitation will be after 11:00am Tuesday at the funeral home.
