Sammie Spann

Sammie Joe Spann, age 67, died at Vanderbilt Medical Center on Thursday, June 23, 2011. Born November 23, 1943 in Glasgow, Kentucky, the Barren County native was a farmer for most of his life in Austin, Kentucky. He was a son of the late Ollis Owen Spann and Mary Ethel Bunch Spann. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ollis Owen (Junior) Spann and a grandson, Adam Thomas Wilson. Survivors include his wife and best friend of 47 years, Burnell Bush Spann; three daughters, Kim Marshall and her husband Greg, of Paris, Kentucky; Kelly Milan and her husband, Bill of Fountain Run Kentucky; Karen Wilson and her husband, Jay of Bowling Green, Kentucky; a son, Joseph 'Joe' Spann and wife Jill of Maryland; two sisters Bettie Bray and husband Jim and Joan Wilson; nine grandchildren Brandon, Shayna & Chris Marshall, Kelsey & Cassidy McCoy, Andrew & Samantha Wilson, Trent & Katie Spann and several beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral serivces will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, June 26, 2011 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Caney Fork Cemetery at Etoile, KY. Visitation will begin at 3:00 P.M. Saturday.
