Sheila Gaye Williams Oliver, 65, of Glasgow, surrounded by family and friends, passed away at T. J. Samson Hospital on Thursday afternoon, May 28, 2015. Sheila was born Nov. 1, 1949 in Glasgow, the daughter of the late Leroy and Bernadine Williams. She was a 1967 graduate of Glasgow High School and developed her secretarial skills at WKU before heading to Washington, DC where she began her professional career with the FBI. After leaving Washington, she returned to Glasgow and was associated with several businesses including Williams Construction, Fisher Corporation, and New Farmers National Bank. In 1985 she and her brother, Bernard, formed Oliver-Williams and Company which she operated for 11 years. In 2002 she joined the staff at T. J. Samson Hospital as Education Coordinator. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church. Sheila was elected to the Glasgow City Council serving from 1985-2002, and then accepted an appointment as Glasgow City Clerk/Administrator from January 2003 through December 2010. In 2013 she was re-elected to the Glasgow City Council and served until her passing. Sheila was also very active with the South Central KY Cultural Center serving as president and volunteering as bookkeeper for the Arts and Antique Mall on the square. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Gary Oliver; two sons Blake Oliver (Bryn Turner) of Louisville and Josh Oliver (Sara Cloud) of Bowling Green; three brothers Bernard Williams (Becky), Tony Williams (Sherry) and Todd Williams (Sheila); one sister Rita Vance (Don) all of Glasgow; a niece Lauren Williams of Lexington and three nephews Chase, Spencer and Hunter Williams all of Glasgow. She is also survived by 3 Uncles, 7 Aunts and 56 first cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 9 Uncles and 5 Aunts. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, May 31st at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Sunday from 12:00 Noon until time for the service. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the South Central Kentucky Cultural Center, 200 West Water St., Glasgow, KY 42141.
