Cortez Coomer 87 of Cave City died Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Signature Health Care in Bowling Green, KY. Mr. Coomer was raised in Barren County, the son of the late Emmitt and Ann Lizzie Judd Coomer. He was also preceded in death by his wife Olene Frances Smith Coomer, his son Randall J. Coomer and a sister Norma Jean Kerley. Mr. Coomer was a farmer and had also worked with the tobacco market in earlier years. He was a member of the Basil Chapel United Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Survivors include his daughter-in-law Rita Coomer of Cave City; 5 grandchildren Amanda Coomer Hood (Allen) of Glasgow, Laura Nichole Coomer of Cave City, Dewayne Marr of Glasgow, Nathan Houchens (Katie) of Scottsville and Kevin Houchens of Glasgow; 7 great-grandchildren Haley and Kaleb Fisher, Brayden and Shyla Houchens, Hunter and Kadence Strain and Austin Hood; 1 sister Aline Smith of Cave City; 4 brothers C. G. Coomer (Donna) of Virginia, Carter Coomer (Glenna), Harold Coomer (Shirley) and Douglas Coomer (Betty Faye) all of Glasgow and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11am Saturday, September 27th at Basil Chapel United Baptist Church with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home on Friday beginning at 3pm and Saturday at the church from 9am until time for services.
