Stanley Matthews

Stanley Jewell Matthews, 60, of Temple Hill, KY died Wednesday February 4, 2004 at his home after a brief illness. He was born in Barren County the son of the late Jewell and Cordlene Crow Matthews. Stanley was a 32 year employee of the Farmers Rural Electric Co-op Corp. and was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church where he had just recently retired as the pastor for the past 17 years. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Shaw Matthews; 1 daughter and 'son' in law, Vicky and Dennis Key of Temple Hill, 2 grandchildren Riley and Katie Beth Key of Temple Hill; 3 brothers James, Lonnie and Rondall Matthews of Temple Hill and 4 sisters, Elsie Shoopman of Louisville, KY, Reba Ward of Glasgow, Lera Noble of Louisville and Mary Stafford of Lafayette, TN. Two sons, Bradley Jewell Matthews and Bernice Jewell Matthews and two brothers Sewell and Arnold Matthews preceded him in death. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Friday Feb. 6, 2004 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Poplar Log Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12:00 noon Thursday at the funeral home.
