Stanley Eugene 'Smitty' Smith, 82 of Glasgow, died Friday, August 16, 2013 at T. J. Samson Community Hospital. The Barren County native was the son of the late Roger C. and Nola Miller Smith. Mr. Smith was a retired farmer in the Temple Hill/Freedom Community and was a member of the Methodist faith. He loved life, his family and loved and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed serving his community and was instrumental in the development of the N.F.O. in Barren County and the Little League program at Temple Hill. Surviving is his wife of 62 years Caroljean Mayes Smith; 3 daughters Cheryle Lane Stonerock and husband Chris, Cara Stinson and husband Ricky, and Jill Leftwich and husband Joe all of Glasgow; 6 grandchildren Kristen Copas and husband Wade, Matt Stonerock and wife Sarah, Daniel Stinson, Ben Leftwich, Katie Leftwich and Cheyanne Smith and a great-grandson Gavin Copas; his sister Rebecca Wilson of Las Vegas, NV and his half-brother Dale Smith of Tucson, AZ. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Stanley Wayne Smith, grandson Jason Leftwich, 2 sisters Katherine Peden and Sara Bowers and a brother James F. Smith. Funeral services will be 2pm Sunday, August 18th at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Poplar Log Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5pm until 8pm and Sunday morning until time for the service.
