Tavie Bowman

Tavie Jewell Bowman, 72, of Hawesville, passed away Wednesday, December 23rd, 2015 at the Owensboro Regional Health Hospital. She was born on Tuesday, August 3rd, 1943 in Butler County, the daughter of the late Joe and Hettie Mae (Flener) Brooks. Tavie was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Hawesville. She was also a dairy farmer. Tavie is survived by her husband, Emmett Bowman of Hawesville; two sons, Gary Huffines (Peggy) of Tell City, IN and Dewayne Kellems (Amanda) of Newburg, IN; one daughter, Janette Arnold (Larry) of Hawesville; two brothers, Vivin Brooks (Marsha) of Morgantown and Richard Brooks (Karen) of Welches Creek; one sister, JoAnn Gary (Presto) of Caneyville; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 29th at 11:00 am at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Rev John Birkett will be officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Union Cemetery.Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Monday after 12:00 Noon and Tuesday from 9:00 am until time of service.
