Teresa Jean Blair Owens, age 67, passed from this world on the morning of December 28, 2024 while in the care of TJ Samson Community Hospital. She was welcomed into the arms of her eternal Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her heavenly family, including her beloved sisters and best friends. Teresa’s sudden and unexpected passing have left her family heartbroken.

Teresa met her husband Steve Edward Owens while attending Caverna High School in Horse Cave, Kentucky in 1973 and they remained inseparable. They graduated together in the class of 1976 and were married on October 9, 1981. The couple recently celebrated 43 years of marriage and 51 years of loving one another.

Teresa was a compassionate and kind individual who never met a stranger. Her selfless, pure spirit and loving nature enabled her to care for others in many ways. She played an important role raising her niece Judy Blair McCubbin Sherer, nephew Justin Spann, nieces DeAnnie Salmon James, Jenna Salmon Piotrowski, great nieces and nephews Chloe and Conner Brown, and Claire Brown Vance. Her life was dedicated to caring for her husband, cats, neighbors, church family at Coral Hill Baptist Church, and her many lifelong friends. Teresa also lovingly cared for each of her sisters during their final months of life.

Teresa was as resilient as she was loving, having survived breast cancer two separate times. Her love of family, faith and God carried her through life’s celebrations and challenges.

She was reunited in heaven with her mother, Veda Barnes Blair, father Albro Taylor Blair, sisters Edith Blair Poynter, Margaret Blair Huff, Brenda Blair Crain, Joyce Blair McCubbin, her youngest sister and constant companion Peggy Blair Spann, brothers Jessie Marshall Blair, Taylor Vernon Blair, Bobby Wayne Blair, half- brother Donald Ray Blair and a very special nephew, Larry Wayne Poynter.

In addition to her husband and aforementioned family, she is also survived by her special nephew James Robert “JR” Poynter and wife Teri Gore Poynter, sister Betsy Blair Waddell, many brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and innumerable friends.

The family honored Teresa’s choice of cremation under the direction of A.F. Crow and Son Funeral Home. A celebration of her life and legacy will take place at Coral Hill Baptist Church at a future date.
