Thomas Douglas Shank 85 of Glasgow died Wednesday, November 16, 2016 peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones. Doug was born in Glasgow, KY he was the son of the late Leonard and Sally Schultz Shank. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1947-1952 and graduated from Bowling Green Business College in 1957. After graduation he worked for the US Steel Corp. and owned and operated Cable TV systems in Kentucky. He was one of the early pioneers of Cable TV and was active in national cable TV organizations. Upon retirement he bought a farm which he named Shanks Hope in Bowling Green, KY and began raising Thoroughbreds. This became his passion and he had many successful race horses. Doug was passionate about the Kentucky Wildcats, democratic politics and golf. Doug is remembered by his children as a loving and supportive father full of humor and wit. Survivors include 2 daughters Deanna Rees of Atlanta, GA and Star Ann Crockett (Daniel) of Virginia; 2 sons Robin Shank and Terry Shank (Cathy) both of Glasgow; two step-sons Kevin and Craig Bell of Findlay, OH; 6 grandchildren Emily, Ann, John, Hunter, Zackary and Harrison; 3 great grandchildren Barett, Luke and Owen and special caregivers and friends Stephen Lee, Matthew Hagan, Amanda Jackson, Ashley Ballard and Brandon Sherill. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his wife Lois Thompson Shank, a brother Bobby Lee Shank and a son-in-law Bill Rees. Graveside services will be 11:00am Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Hosparus of Barren River @ 101 Riverwood Ave. Suite B, Bowling Green, KY 42103-9981.
