Carl Timothy “Tim” Byrd, age 63, of Glasgow, Kentucky, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday morning, February 25, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family and caregiver. He was born in Glasgow, Kentucky, on July 21, 1961, to the late Carl Byrd and Doris Gilpin Byrd of the Eighty-Eight Community in Barren County where he lived and loved his life. Tim was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Tim was an avid old car enthusiast, restoring many cars. After being paralyzed in a motor vehicle accident on his way home from work at R.R. Donnelly on January 8th, 1981, he attended the University of Kentucky where he earned a degree in Engineering. After graduation he was employed by C.J. Fuller Engineering in Lexington, Kentucky. Tim had many hobbies such as bird watching and truly enjoyed U.K. basketball. He loved spending time with his many lifelong friends and his little dog, Millie Jane, a loving companion.

In addition to his mother, Doris Gilpin Byrd a lifelong caretaker, he is survived by his loving wife, Marla Gillon Byrd; two sons, Nick and Tim Wood; grandson, Benny Wood; brother, Collie Byrd (Rose Mary); nieces, nephews, cousins, wonderful lifelong friends, his Bethel and Glasgow Bible Church families and his beloved dog Millie also survive. 

Tim was preceded in death by his father, Carl Byrd. 

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice.

The funeral service for Mr. Byrd will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 28th, 2025 at A.F. Crow and Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, February 27th from 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM, and Friday starting at 8:00 AM until time for the service at the funeral home.
