Travis Thompson Lyle 76 of Glasgow died Monday, August 22, 2016 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN. The Barren County native was the son of the late Nannie Irene Thompson and Cova Edward Lyle. Travis spent his life serving in the military. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam War and retired with the rank of Sergeant Major serving 3 years in the Marine Corps and 27 years in the U. S. Army. He was an active member of the D.A.V. Chapter 20 Honor Guard of Glasgow and was a member of the Temple Baptist Church where he attended for 36 years. He is survived by his wife Jean Rogers Lyle; a son Richard Lyle (Christine) of Radcliff, KY; 2 daughters Susan Russell (Johnny) of Summer Shade and Annie Noel (Robin Knight) of Henrietta, OK; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 2 brothers Buddy Lyle (Lucille) of Glasgow and Kenneth Edward "Bobby" Lyle of Tennessee and 2 sisters Bonnie Chapman (Clifton) of Louisville and Virginia Walker of Glasgow. He was preceded in death by a brother Keith Eldon Lyle. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, August 26th at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Little Barren Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by D.A.V. Chapter 20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 and Friday morning until time for the service.
