Troy Jefferson Deckard, age 78, of Glasgow, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025, at TJ Samson Community Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Glasgow, Kentucky on October 30, 1946, to the late Floyd J. Deckard and the late Grace Doty Deckard. Troy proudly served his country in the US Army and was a Vietnam veteran. After his career in the military he served his community as a barber at Troy’s Barber Shop for more than forty years. Troy spent many years as a 32nd degree Master Mason and Past Master at the 931 Edmonton Lodge. He was a member of the NRA and the Elk foundation. Troy was a faithful member of Beech Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. In his free time, he loved hunting, playing golf, and, most of all, spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ellen Deckard; daughter, Bethany Gaffney (Bobby); grandchild, Harper Grace Gaffney; siblings, Donnie Denton (David), Bonnie Vernon, Faye Groce, Shelia Shaw (Billy), and Tony Deckard (Joyce); and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Bobby Vernon and Bobby Groce, as well as his favorite furry companion, Whitman.
The funeral service for Mr. Deckard will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, February 26th, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery, with military honors provided by the DAV Glasgow Chapter #20. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 25th, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Wednesday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.
