Veachel Reid Lowe 83 of Glasgow died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at his home. He was born in Barren County the son of the late Earl Preston Lowe and Mary Tiney Weaver Lowe. Mr. Lowe was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was retired from Chrysler Corp. in Indianapolis, IN, returning to Glasgow in 1986. He was a Master Mason for 52 years, Past Master of Oakland Masonic Lodge, Oaklandon, IN and member of Allen Masonic Lodge #24 in Glasgow. He was also a member and Past Worthy Patron of Etoile Chapter, Order of Eastern Star #522 and Oakland Chapter of Eastern Star. Mr. Lowe was a Deacon and an Usher at Glasgow Baptist church, a member of Glasgow Chapter of AARP, Glasgow Senior citizens, Temple Hill Lions Club and a Melvin Jones Fellow of Lions International. He is survived by a daughter Mary Beth Kunkle (Dale) of Glasgow; 3 grandchildren Ryan Kunkle (Susan) of Glasgow, Mary LeNan Lancaster (James) of Marietta, GA and Kristina Louise Kunkle of Bowling Green; 1 great grandchild Anna Elizabeth Kunkle of Atlanta; 3 brothers John Lowe (Mildred), Paul Lowe (Mary Frances) and Malcolm Lowe all of Glasgow; a sister-in-law Nan Ella Settle of Louisville; a brother-in-law John Settle (Linda Gail) of Glasgow and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Marilee Settle Lowe and a sister Virginia Helen Smith. Funeral services will be 11am Saturday at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4pm Friday. Masonic and Order of Eastern Star rites will be held at 7pm Friday at the funeral home and the public is welcome to attend.
