Velma Louise Houchens 86 of Lucas, KY died Wednesday Aug. 12, 2009 at the NHC Healthcare Facility in Glasgow. She was born in Allen County the daughter of the late John Bill and Radar Ragland Vinson. Mrs. Houchens was retired from Kentucky Pants and was a member of White Plains Baptist Church in Scottsville. She is survived by a son Joe David Houchens and wife Sue of Lucas, KY; 5 grandchildren Denise Anderson and husband Jeff of Westmoreland, TN, John Houchens and wife Des of Spokane, WA, Penny Houchens and husband Gerald Versluys of Jacksonville, FL, Jenny Houchens of Glasgow and David Houchens of Bowling Green; 11 great grandchildren Holly (Greg) Herndon of Murfreesboro, TN, Hillary (Travis) Lanius of Lebanon, TN, Hannah Anderson of Westmoreland, TN, Logan Pursley, Taylor and Nolan Harlow, Caleb and Canaan Houchens all of Glasgow, Luna, Lilly and Tristan Houchens all of Bowling Green; one sister Dorothy Cleveland of Indianapolis, IN and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lucian 'Tobe' Houchens, a son Johnny Houchens, one brother Jack Vinson and five sisters, Ethel Dallas, Gladys Wheeler, Maybel Flowers, Hassie Garmon and Prosie Vinson. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday August 15, 2009 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
