Velma Billingsley Pardue, 93 of Glasgow died Monday, December 11, 2006 at her residence in Glasgow. Mrs. Pardue was born in Barren County the daughter of Adis and Inis Shipley Billingsley. Since 1925 she has been a faithful member of Big Meadow Baptist Church, teaching the Young People's Sunday School Class many years and singing in the choir. Mrs. Pardue was a retired mathematics teacher receiving her M.A. degree at W.K.U.. She began her teaching career in one room schools in Metcalfe and Barren County. She retired from the Glasgow Independent Schools in 1976 as a high school mathematics teacher. She was a member of the National Education Assn., KY Education Assn. and KY Retired Teacher's Assn. She was a member of AARP, having served seventeen years as a Volunteer Tax Aid Counselor. She was recognized by Modern Woodman of America in Sept. 2000 for her many years of volunteer service to the community. She is survived by her daughter, Vada Glynn Saltsman (Roscoe) of Glasgow; 3 granddaughters, Beth Saltsman and special friend Jimmy Vibbert of Glasgow, Lori Jones (Scotty) of Bowling Green, and Kara Henson (Rick) of Glasgow; 3 great granddaughters Whitney Shirley and twins, Madison and Blair Correll and one step grandson Zachary Henson. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, ten great nephews, nine great nieces, several great-great nephews and nieces and one great-great-great nephew and one great-great-great niece. Preceding her in death was her husband Carl Okla Pardue, 3 brothers Delmer (Alyne) Billingsley, William (Maud) Billingsley and Ernest (Geraldine) Billingsley, one niece Wanda Saltsman and a great nephew Eric Billingsley. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Thursday at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Glasgow Education Foundation or your favorite charity.
