Venita May Singleton, 82, of Smiths Grove, Kentucky passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Barren County Nursing and Rehab. She was born February 27, 1939 in Topeka, Kansas to the late Cecil Lowell Hanes and Evelyn Olive Herran Hanes. For the first 15 years of her career, she worked for the Civil Service at Fort Carson. She then went on to work as a file clerk for the State Child Support Division of Colorado until her retirement. Mrs. Singleton was a member of First Baptist Church in Whitefield, Colorado and moved to Glasgow, Kentucky in June of 2006. Survivors include, one daughter, Donna Holman (Tim) of Smiths Grove, Kentucky; one son, David Singleton (Lisa) of Edgar Springs, Missouri; one sister, Shelley Daley (Tim) of Mesa, Arizona; three grandchildren, Juanita Wells (Joey) of Smiths Grove, Kentucky, Ashley Ganguly (Sahil), David Anthony Singleton (Laureen); and four great grandchildren, Parker-Ann Kidd, Preston Wells, Riley Kidd, and Myla Corrine Singleton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Hanes and two sisters, Loretta Kerr and Sharon Regan. A graveside service for Mrs. Singleton will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 12th at the Holman Family Cemetery in Smiths Grove, Kentucky. A. F.
