Vernon Douglas Landers 71 of Glasgow, KY died Thursday July 22, 2004 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was born and raised in the Coral Hill Community of Barren County, the son of the late Tom and Janie Maggard Landers. Mr. Landers was a Prebyterian, a life long farmer and retired as a foreman from the Kentucky State Highway Department. He had also been an employee of the Standard Hardware Store and was a Korean War Veteran serving with the 623rd Field Artillery. He is survived by his wife Egie Froedge Landers; a son Vernon Douglas Landers, Jr. and wife Melissa of Glasgow; 2 daughters Sheila Steenbergen and husband Larry of Cave City and Sharon Kaye Roberts and husband Jeff of Illinois; 5 grandchildren J.D. and Sara Layne Steenbergen, Kaitlyn Norrod, V. Douglas 'Trey' Landers III and Mallory Landers; 2 brothers Thomas Landers of Indiana and Harry Landers of Glasgow and his mother in law Julia Froedge of Glasgow. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Saturday July 24, 2004 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the D.A.V. Chapter 20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be after 4pm Friday at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the Glasgow First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 200 E. Washington St., Glasgow, KY 42141.
