Virginia Lawhon Alexander, 94, of Glasgow, KY died Monday, March 25, 2015 at NHC Healthcare after an extended illness. She is survived by three children, Rick Alexander, Elaine (Bobby) Richardson, and Doug Alexander all of Glasgow; five grandchildren, Rich (Tammy) Alexander, Matt (Vickie) Alexander, Clay (Lisa) Richardson, all of Glasgow, and Will and Ashley Alexander of Chicago, IL; seven great grandchildren , Trey, Emily, Riley, Bailey, and Brooklyn Alexander, and John Robert and Lucy Richardson; one sister, Brenda Garmon of Marrowbone, KY; and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Lawhon and Rochelle Lawhon. She is also survived by a host of Alexander and Lawhon nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Alexander; six siblings, Jane (Louis) Foubare, Mary (Don) Alexander, Tom (Manila) Alexander, Gideon Lawhon, Linda (Richard) Earle, and Jack Lawhon; a daughter-in-law, Judith Bacon Alexander; and a grandson, Bradly Bacon Alexander. Virginia was the daughter of the late T. J. and Lucy Lawhon and was raised in the Grider community of Cumberland County. She was a graduate of Marrowbone High School, and attended Western KY Teacher's College. One of her favorite jobs, of the many she held, was that of school secretary at Glasgow Junior High School. In later years, she enjoyed being a member of T. J. Samson Auxiliary, logging over 30,000 hours of volunteer service in over 25 years at the hospital. She had been a faithful and very active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Glasgow since 1950. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 28th at the First Presbyterian Church in Glasgow with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home 4:00 to 8:00 Wednesday and 9:00 to 10:00 Thursday. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or Children's Hospital Foundation, Benefiting Kosair Children's Hospital, Dept. 86140, P.O.
