Virginia Nell Jackson Houchens, or "Aunt Nell," as she was endearingly referred to, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 29th, 2021, surrounded by her family and caregivers. She was born October 5, 1931, to the late Millard Jackson and Lydia Mae Houchens Jackson Kinslow. She married the love of her life, William Ruel Houchens on September 7, 1951, who proceeds her in death. Nell and Ruel loved and raised many children. Though never having children of their own, they contributed to the well-being and growth of many youths in the Glasgow and surrounding areas. She is survived by two brothers, Roy Kinslow (Margie) and Leslie Kinslow (Wanda), two sisters, Margaret Jackman (Joe) and Betty Ann Staples (Kenneth) and sister-in-law, Ruth Glass, and several nieces and nephews whom she treasured as her own. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Thompson Botts Kinslow, two brothers, Gus T. Kinslow and Charles Kinslow, two sisters, Marie Ramey and Frankie Peden, nephews Gary Kinslow and Jimmy Peden and a niece Tammy Kinslow. Services will be held at A F Crow & Son Funeral Home at 11am on Thursday, September 2, 2021, with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2:00pm to 8:00 PM and Thursday morning until time for service at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may be sent in the form of donations to the Boys & Girls Club of Glasgow, the Shanti Niketan Hospice Home of Glasgow or the charity of your choice.
