Wanda Alida DeMumbrum Williams, of Glasgow, passed away peacefully at her home in Glasgow, Kentucky, on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. She was born on September 4, 1936, in Edmonton, Kentucky, to the late Roland Kay DeMumbrum and the late Lena Ellen England. During her 88 years of life, Wanda dedicated her time and attention to her family and to the profession of nursing. Wanda graduated from the Glasgow School for Practical Nurses in 1958 before continuing her education at the Nashville School of Nursing from 1958 to 1961. As a dedicated registered nurse, she spent the majority of her career at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. She worked in Obstetrics and played a pivotal role in establishing the hospital’s first Critical Care Unit, serving as its inaugural director. After 41 years of compassionate service in nursing, she retired in September 2001.  

A charter member of Faith United Methodist Church in Glasgow, Wanda was deeply committed to her faith. Her father helped build and establish the church where she became a steadfast presence within her family and community. She openly shared her devotion to Christ and lived a life guided by faith and service. 

She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Louie Williams, Jr., and their five children; Louie Jeffrey Williams (Kimberly) of Lucas, Kentucky, Merry Belle Crews of Glasgow, Kentucky, Sharon Leigh Williams (Deloris) of Louisville, Kentucky, C. F. Williams of Glasgow, Kentucky, and Catherine Kaye Williams of Glasgow, Kentucky. She also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren, Justin Crews of Glasgow, Kentucky, Sarah Crews of Bowling Green, Kentucky, William Myers and Alida Myers of Albany, Kentucky.  

In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her brother, William Perry DeMumbrum.  

The funeral service for Ms. Williams will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 17th, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday, February 16th, from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and Monday morning until time for the service at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life dinner will be held in her honor at Faith Community Church on Lexington Drive in Glasgow from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm following burial. Please join her family and friends in honoring her life and dedication to service. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Medical Care of Glasgow, Casting for Recovery of Kentucky One/Southern Indiana, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
