William 'Red' Belcher 81 of Glasgow died Friday, October 23, 2009 at the NHC Healthcare facility in Glasgow. Born in Monroe Co. he was the son of the late Daniel Eugene & Laura Smith Belcher. Mr. Belcher was a member of the Grider Memorial Baptist Church, a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U. S. Army and a former employee of the Central Lumber Company and was retired from Sorenson Mfg. and Barren River State Park. Survivors include his wife of 58yrs Mary Rose Mesker Belcher of Glasgow; a son Freddie Belcher (Betty) of Glasgow; 2 daughters Patricia Morgan and Kim Belcher both of Glasgow; a son-in-law Glen Morgan of Glasgow; a brother-in-law Tom Mesker (Brenda) of Glasgow; a half sister Elizabeth Wooten (James of Glasgow; 4 grandchildren Gloria Smith (Kevin), Sandra Belcher (Mike Mosley), Crystal Morgan (Joe Cary) and Jacob Nahorniak; a step-grandson Allen Hagan (Nita); 2 great grandsons Mason & Trace Smith; a step great granddaughter Ashley Hagan and several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister Hattie Morgan, a step-brother Raymond Jackson and a great grandson Cornelius Wheeler and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Sunday, October 25, 2009 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens with Military Honors provided by DAV Chapter #20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be after 2:00pm Saturday at the funeral home.
