William Dean Greer 83 of Glasgow died Monday, August 24, 2015 at his home. He was born at Etoile, KY the son of the late Eugene and Maude Underwood Greer. Mr. Greer was a veteran, serving with the 101st Airborne, U. S. Army. He was stationed and trained at Ft. Campbell, KY and served in Germany. After his military service he joined National Wood Products in Glasgow as a pattern maker and later retired as the plant superintendent. He was a master woodworker and was very proud of being able to work with his hands. He had made much of the wood trim and cherry wood furniture in his home as well as many grandfather clocks he built for others. He attended and was a member of the Glasgow Bible Church. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Meadows Greer; a son Jeff Greer of Nashville, TN; 2 brothers Paul Greer and Bill (Ann) Greer of Glasgow; 2 sisters Bess Williams and Emogene Button Garner of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews and locally by a sister-in-law Elaine McGuire of Glasgow. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 sisters Tress Garrett and Mary Frances Elliott and 2 brothers John Greer and Stanley Greer, Sr. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, August 28th at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Thursday. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
