William Minnis Williams went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2023. He passed away at TJ Samson Community Hospital surrounded by his family. Minnis was born on June 28, 1940 to John C. and Christine Williams, who preceded him in death.
Minnis was a 1959 graduate of Hiseville High School and played on the state champion football team white there. He attended Western Kentucky University before he served several years in the Kentucky National Guard. He was appointed Kentucky Colonel in 1962. He was a member of the Rotary and Lyons Club for many years. Minnis is a retired loan officer from South Central Bank. He was also a faithful member of Glasgow Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Throughout his life, he enjoyed playing and watching sports, he was an avid golfer and a Kentucky baseball and football fan.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Williams; his two children, Eric Williams (Tammy) and Rene Thompson (David); his four grandchildren, Haley Williams, Holly Williams, Bella Thompson, and Claire Thompson; two brothers, Mike Williams (Carol) and Steve Williams (Debbie); along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one niece, Michelle Williams.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, July 26th, 1:00 PM at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville Cemetery with military honors at the gravesite provided by DAV Chapter #20. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, July 25th, from 4:00 PM till 8:00 PM and Wednesday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.
